George M. Chalos Presents at Cyprus Shipping Chamber's June Members' Meeting

Chalos & Co, P.C. is pleased to report that George M. Chalos was the featured presenter at the Cyprus Shipping Chamber's June Members' Meeting, held on June 16, 2010 in Limassol, Cyprus. Mr. Chalos's presentation, entitled "Marpol, Magic Pipes and Whistleblowers: The US Prosecution of the Shipping Industry", addressed vessel owner and/or operators' exposure to criminal responsibility for suspected Marpol violations when their vessels call at US ports.

The Cyprus Shipping Chamber, the trade association of the Shipping Industry in Cyrpus, was established in 1989, with the purpose of "promoting the interests of Cyprus Shipping and furthering the reputation of the Cyprus flag, whilst promoting and protecting the interests of its Members both nationally and internationally."  Today, the Members of the Chamber own and/or manage from Cyprus approximately 2170 vessels exceeding 43 million gross tons, making it one of the largest national shipping associations in the world.
